Introducing Ephrata Chiropractor Dr. Donna Kost
It happened in a physiological psychology class. I was going to college to be a family counselor. We were learning how the nerve system is the boss of the whole body. The nerve system tells every cell to either do more or slow down. Sometimes things happen to our nerve system that make a body part work too hard, or too slow, and it makes us sick. I wanted to know more. I wanted to be able to DO more to help people with nerve system problems. I found out that chiropractors do that everyday. They find and fix nerve system problems. Head aches, acid reflux, irritable bowel, carpal tunnel syndrome, TMJ syndrome. I love it!
Ten years before I started college, my father was injured at work. He was unable sit down to dinner with us because of back pain. My mother offered to take him to the hospital. He asked “What are THEY gonna do?” My young mind couldn’t understand this. Why wouldn’t a hospital be able to help someone who was hurt? “They’ll just give me pills for pain, but I can’t move.” Since he couldn’t drive, my mother took him to the chiropractor. By the time they arrived there, he was stuck in a sitting position, and had to be carried into the office. An hour later, my parents came home. Dad didn’t roughhouse with us that night, but he was walking, sitting, able to breathe normally instead of in short gasps. Again, my young mind took this all in. No medicine, no operation. A doctor used his hands to help my dad move and breathe again.
